What You’ll Do:

Your Impact:

You’ll be instrumental in protecting the historic integrity of our buildings while also helping bring joy to tens of thousands of visitors during Winterlights. By blending stewardship and creativity, your work ensures that both our facilities and events are safe, functional, and full of wonder.

The Role:

Are you someone who loves fixing things and making things shine? Join our team at The Trustees as a Facilities Steward — a unique hybrid role that’s 70% hands-on facilities expert and 30% technical lead for Winterlights, our dazzling holiday lights festival at the Eleanor Cabot Bradley Estate.

As our Facilities Steward, you’ll play a vital dual role:

  1. All Year Long: You’ll oversee the maintenance and care of historic buildings and structures in the Southeast region, keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. Think carpentry, repairs, vendor coordination, long-term maintenance planning, and supporting special events.
  1. Winterlights Season (Sept 1–Feb 15) : You’ll shift into tech-manager mode—leading a small Production Crew to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and safely store the Winterlights display. This includes power setup, lighting design implementation, equipment checks, and even responding to the occasional surprise snowstorm or power outage.

This role is for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in both independent and team settings, and doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty—whether it’s rewiring a light fixture or helping create an unforgettable visitor experience.

Specifically, you’ll:

Facilities Stewardship (Year-Round) M-F, 8AM-4PM

  • Perform routine building and site maintenance (painting, janitorial, minor repairs, waste management, and other tasks as needed or assigned)
  • Develop and implement proactive maintenance plans for buildings and structures
  • Coordinate service vendors for HVAC, septic, fire systems, and more
  • Support site needs for events and programs, including set-up and breakdown
  • Assist in budgeting, planning, and scheduling stewardship work
  • Collaborate with stewardship and engagement teams to meet shared goals
  • Provide weekend on-call support (every other week) for event logistics, facility issues, and security calls at the Bradley Estate in Canton and Moose Hill Farm in Sharon

Winterlights Tech Manager, in partnership with the Regional Events Manager

  • Set-up (Sep 15 – November 25) and Strike (January 4 – February 1) M-F, 8AM-4PM

  • Interpret design plans and plan technical execution
  • Supervise and assist with installation, testing, and takedown of lighting displays
  • Oversee safe setup of power distribution, cables, and lighting control systems
  • Coordinate breakdown, packing, inventory, and organized storage of lighting displays
  • Run of Show (November 27 – January 2) W-Su, 1PM – 9PM
  • Troubleshoot lighting and electrical issues
  • Lead team of Production Crew members assigned to parking, vehicle circulation, and wayfinding
  • Evenings and weekends required

Moose Hill Housing Responsibilities:

This role may include subsidized housing at Moose Hill Farm (Sharon, MA). Assigned responsibilities for housing include:

  • Ensuring security of Moose Hill buildings
  • Snow and ice response for Moose Hill preschool
  • On-call weekend support for the Bradley Estate and preschool

This is a full-time, nonexempt position (40 hours per week) reporting directly to the Stewardship Manager.
