Job Description

Overview:

Staff Accountant

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. In this role, you’ll handle a variety of accounting tasks—from reconciling general ledger accounts to preparing journal entries and analyzing monthly financial data. You’ll play a key part in helping us understand financial trends and support operational decisions across the business. Responsibilities:
  • Prepare journal entries for expense reclassifications, accruals, allocations, and prepaid items.
  • Compile monthly income statements and verify supporting documents for accuracy.
  • Review monthly financial results and investigate any variances from historical trends or operational reports.
  • Maintain organized work papers that clearly reflect balance sheet activity and include all necessary documentation.
  • Provide timely and accurate accounting support to our stakeholders.
  • Keep departmental spreadsheets up to date with current financial data.
  • Communicate regularly with the Accounting Supervisor and other departments accounting matters that require resolution. 
  • Pitch in on special projects, offering financial insights and administrative support as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience preparing manual journal entries as part of the monthly close process.
  • 1–2 years of relevant accounting experience (internships count!). Experience in multi-unit or restaurant accounting is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems like Oracle, SAP, or NetSuite.
  • Strong communication skills—you know how to explain financial info clearly.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple tasks.
  • A team player who builds positive relationships and listens actively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Must pass an Accounting Proficiency Assessment.
