Overview
Opportunity AI (OAI) is seeking a mission-driven, detail-oriented Manager of Operations and Programs to help shape the future of artificial intelligence’s impact on economic opportunity.
About Opportunity AI
Social sector organizations devoted to enhancing economic opportunity are rapidly adapting to the AI era, both by building new AI-powered tools and evolving legacy programs. To play its necessary role to advance this work, the funder community urgently needs to adapt as well.
Opportunity AI is a dynamic, rapidly growing funder collaborative founded to address this need. Our aim is to enhance the flow of philanthropic and other impact capital to effective interventions that increase economic opportunity and mobility. To do that, we serve our members – over 150 funder professionals drawn from over 80 philanthropy and impact investing organizations – by fostering new multi-funder collaborations, enhancing members’ technical capacity and field intelligence, and improving connectivity within the funding community and between funders and social sector AI builders. Since its founding, OAI has fostered several new multi-donor projects, hosted over 25 virtual and in-person trainings and events, and grown to become the premier funder collaborative dedicated to understanding and improving AI’s impact on economic opportunity.
Opportunity AI is led by a two-person team and supported and steered by an exceptional advisory committee with representatives from Gates Foundation, Google.org, Comcast, Workday Foundation, GitLab Foundation, Autodesk Foundation, Annie E. Casey Foundation, the Siegel Family Endowment, and others. You can find more information about the organization at opportunityai.org , linkedin.com/company/opportunityaiorg , and this short article .

Driven by its sincere belief that access to opportunity is a fundamental right, it takes bold yet practical actions to support making a better future now.
About the opportunity
The Manager of Operations and Programs will play a critical role in building Opportunity AI into a flourishing organization capable of sustained impact. As just the third member of OAI’s startup team, the Manager will partner closely with the founding team to build new operational systems, support operational and programmatic needs, help chart strategy, and plan high-impact events. The role requires the ability to operate independently, plan collaboratively, and think creatively and proactively – as well as operational precision, strong writing and communication abilities, and a passion for OAI’s mission and subject matter.
The Manager will play vital roles in ensuring the efficient functioning of OAI’s day-to-day operations and in supporting the execution of the organization’s strategic priorities. The selected candidate will design and oversee efficient workflows, draft member-facing documents and communications, plan member events, and work with colleagues at our fiscal sponsor to complete operational tasks related to financial management, contracts, and invoices. The Manager will also work closely with the Executive Director and Chief Innovation Officer to refine Opportunity AI’s strategy and to generate and track our annual, quarterly, and weekly goals.
This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with entrepreneurial spirit who is excited for the prospect of positioning a new organization for longstanding impact. The ideal candidate will have independently led projects and managed multiple competing priorities in prior roles.
