Genesis Staffing currently has an opening for an experienced Heavy Equipment and Diesel Mechanic for our client in
Sarasota, Florida. The candidate must be able to evaluate and repair heavy equipment including but not limited to dozers, excavators, dump trucks, and Roll Off Trucks in a safe and efficient manner. Position is full time, temp to hire, working days. Pay will depend on level of skills and experience, range is approximates up to $36.00/hr.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains advanced knowledge to diagnose and repair mechanical problems on heavy equipment or diesel engines.
- Identifies potential problems and takes initiative of corrective actions.
- Performs repair or preventative maintenance on all Heavy Equipment and light vehicles as needed to maximize safe and productive operations.
- Reads and interprets equipment condition reports, communicate with supervisor and/or operator for clarification of defects and discuss preventive techniques with operators to minimize future repairs.
- Completes paperwork associated with repairing equipment, documenting parts usage.
- Adheres to and follows OSHA requirements as well as all applicable and required company safety standards and procedures.
- Ensure work area is left clean, all equipment and tools are stowed away safely and protected against damage.
Education and Experience- Experience: Two (2) years of proven work experience as heavy equipment mechanic and diesel equipment.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements- Valid driver’s license and must have a clean driving record.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have own tools
Physical Requirements:- Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions.
- Hearing: Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
- Speaking: Able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
- Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of tools
- Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg.
- Lifting: able to lift up to 30lbs/14kg.
- Squatting/Kneeling: able to squat or kneel for extended periods
- Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.
- Walking: Able to walk through the shop and other outside elements
